Carlisle, Ohio, US is a village in Warren County, established in 1830. It was named after the English city of Carlisle. The village was a stop on the Little Miami Railroad and played a role in the Underground Railroad during the Civil War. The National Road, also known as US Route 40, runs through Carlisle, which is home to the historic St. John's Church, built in 1843.
