Concord, New Hampshire, US is the state's capital and the county seat of Merrimack County. Established in 1725, it was initially known as Penacook Plantation before being renamed Concord in 1765. Concord became the state capital in 1808. The New Hampshire State House, a Greek Revival building constructed in 1819, is a notable landmark and the oldest state house in which the legislature still meets in its original chambers.
