Crownpoint, New Mexico, located in McKinley County, is a small town with a population of approximately 2,200 as of 2019. The town was established in 1935 as a result of the merger of two communities, Crownpoint and Mariano Lake. It is the site of the Crownpoint Navajo Rug Auction, a notable attraction that takes place on the second Friday of each month, where Navajo weavers sell their handmade rugs. The town is also home to the Crownpoint Public School District and Navajo Technical University.
