Dunmore is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States, and is a suburb of Scranton. Established in 1835 and incorporated in 1862, it was named after William Dunmore, the Royal Governor of Virginia from 1771 to 1776. The borough is home to the historic Charles Sumner Post No. 71, a Grand Army of the Republic hall, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. Dunmore is also known for its annual Christmas light display at the borough's park, which attracts visitors from the surrounding area.
