Guntersville, Alabama, located in Marshall County, was established in 1818 and incorporated in 1821. It is named after John Gunter, a local trader and Cherokee leader. The town is situated at the southernmost point of the Tennessee River and is home to Lake Guntersville, a popular spot for outdoor activities, including fishing and boating.
