Midlothian is a village located in Cook County, Illinois, United States, established in 1883. It was named after the Midlothian Scottish clan and was originally a Scottish settlement. The village is known for its historic downtown area, which includes the Midlothian Country Club, a notable landmark and one of the oldest private clubs in the Chicago area. Midlothian has a rich history of coal mining, with several mines operating in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, it is a primarily residential community with a population of approximately 15,000.
