Orefield, Pennsylvania, US is an unincorporated community located in Upper Macungie Township, Lehigh County. It was originally settled in the 18th century and named for the ore deposits in the area. The town is home to the Daniel Boone Homestead, a historic site and museum that was the birthplace of the famous frontiersman. Today, Orefield is a residential area with a population of approximately 5,000 people. It is known for its rural atmosphere and close proximity to Allentown, the third largest city in Pennsylvania.
