Reserve, KS is a small town in Brown County, established in 1887. It was named after the Kansas Land Reserve, a tract of public land set aside for future use. The town was originally a shipping point for cattle and grain, and later became a center for agriculture and oil production. The National Orphan Train Complex, a notable landmark, is located in Reserve and commemorates the Orphan Train movement which brought thousands of homeless children to Kansas for adoption.
