Mercer Island is the largest island in Lake Washington, located in the U.S. state of Washington. It has a population of approximately 25,000 people and covers an area of 6.4 square miles. The island was formed by lava flows and ice age floods, and was first settled by Native Americans. It was named after the Mercer brothers, who were early settlers in the area.
