Brownsville, Pennsylvania, US is a borough in Fayette County, established in 1785. It is known for its historical significance as a key transportation center during the industrial revolution, with the first commercially successful railroad in the US, the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, passing through it. The town was also a major player in the flatboat industry. The National Road, now known as US Route 40, also runs through Brownsville.
