Downingtown, Pennsylvania, US is a borough in Chester County, established in 1715. It was originally a village called Milltown, due to the numerous mills built along the Brandywine Creek. The name was changed to Downingtown in 1812, in honor of early settler Thomas Downing. The town is home to the historic Kerr House, a Victorian-style mansion built in 1878, which is now a museum showcasing local history. Downingtown is also known for its annual holiday event, Light Up Downtown, that attracts visitors from the region.
