Pompton Plains is an unincorporated community located in Pompton Lakes, Passaic County, New Jersey, US. The area was first settled in the 18th century and was named after the Pompton River, which runs through it. Pompton Plains is home to the Van Riper-Hopper House, a historic farmhouse built in 1786 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Today, the community is a popular residential area, known for its small-town charm and proximity to New York City.
