Bryan, Texas, located in Brazos County, was established in 1867 and incorporated in 1871. It was named after William Joel Bryan, the nephew of Texas founding father Stephen F. Austin. The city served as a commercial center for the agricultural industry in the late 19th century. Today, Bryan is known as a regional educational hub, home to Texas A&M University.
