Originally part of Springfield Township, it was named after Prospect Hill, a prominent feature in the early village. The borough covers an area of 0.6 square miles and had a population of 6,522 as of the 2020 census. Prospect Park is home to the Joseph E. Coleman Northwest Regional Library, a notable attraction known for being the largest regional library in the Free Library of Philadelphia system.
