Which Notion plans include AI features?

Notion AI features are currently available on Business and Enterprise plans only, with Business plans priced at $20 per user monthly (or $24 billed monthly) and Enterprise offering custom pricing. Free and Plus plan users receive a limited one-time trial of 20 AI responses per workspace, after which AI functionality becomes completely inaccessible. This represents a significant shift from Notion's previous model, as the company discontinued AI add-ons for new users as of May 13, 2025, fully integrating these capabilities into their higher-tier plans instead.

Business and Enterprise subscribers gain access to Notion's complete AI toolkit, which includes text generation for summarizing and rewriting content, workspace-wide Q&A functionality that searches across all your pages and databases, meeting notes assistance, brainstorming support, and PDF document analysis. These plans also provide access to advanced AI models including GPT-4.1 and Claude 3.7 Sonnet, along with database AI features that can automatically create and fill database entries. The AI operates under a fair use policy rather than strict usage caps, meaning you won't hit arbitrary limits during normal workflow activities.

The 20-response trial on Free and Plus plans covers the same feature set as paid plans, but the limitation is quite restrictive for regular users. Each AI interaction counts as one response, whether you're generating content, asking questions about your workspace, or analyzing documents. Once you've exhausted these 20 responses, there's no way to purchase additional AI access or reset your trial—upgrading becomes the only option to continue using AI features.

This pricing structure creates a clear value proposition but also presents challenges for cost-conscious users. The Business plan effectively doubles the cost compared to Plus ($10 annually), which might feel steep if AI is your primary interest. However, you're also getting enhanced collaboration features, increased file upload limits, and longer page history retention. For teams already considering workflow improvements, the integrated approach eliminates the complexity of managing separate AI subscriptions.

If you're currently using a legacy AI add-on subscription, you'll retain access until your subscription lapses, but renewal isn't possible under the old structure. For most users evaluating Notion AI, the Business plan represents the most practical entry point, especially when paid annually. The key is honestly assessing whether Notion's AI capabilities align with your workflow needs, since the trial period provides limited opportunity to fully test integration with your existing workspace setup.
